You have heard at least once from your weeb friends about Anime and the first thing comes to your mind , that it is some sort of cartoon or childish tv shows and must be pretty boring. But let me tell you my friend , that it is neither boring nor childish. Perhaps anime is one of the most engaging entertainment medium.
🌐What is Anime
Actually "Anime" is the short word for "Animation" that originated in Japan . To put it simply into words , animes are cartoons made in Japan . Though anime and cartoons are not the same , there art styles are completely different . (Caution: don't say that anime and cartoons are same in front of your otaku friends. It is dangerous.) This medium has captured worldwide attention and gained it's popularity over the years. And if I'm not wrong, in the upcoming years it will become more famous and gain huge popularity.
There is an overwhelming amount of anime to watch which makes it tedious to find the appropriate one . That's why I have made this guide to help you out and get started. So the main question is , Do you really want to watch anime but don't have any idea from where to start? Then this guide is the solution of your problems .
🌐Solution is already there
Majority of your problems have already been solved in your childhood . Because we all have watched some episodes of Beyblade , Pokemon , Doraemon , Shinchan , Dragon Ball z , Naruto etc at some point of our childhood. But if you were among those kids who haven't even watched them , then start with the mainstream stuff like Naruto , Jujutsu Kaisen , Demon Slayer , My Hero Academia , Bleach etc. These type of anime are great to start with.
🌐Explore different genre
If mainstream animes are not your thing then you dive into different anime genres. For instance if you enjoy watching suspense , thriller shows then there isn't any better anime than Death Note in my opinion ( so you can start by Death Note) . If you are into sports genre then anime like Haikyuu , Hajime no Ippo etc will be good and if you love fantasy then you can watch Sword Art Online , Black Clover , Re: Zero etc . And lastly if simple slice of life genre is your cup of tea then search about studio Ghibli shows like Princess Mononoke , Spirited Away etc.
🌐From which sites to watch anime?
In earlier days there was not much facilities to watch anime . But thanks to the online streaming platforms, like Netflix , Crunchyroll , Funimation , Hulu etc we can enjoy watching anime easily. Now it is upto you which streaming site is in your budget range and offer the shows you are interested in.
🌐Which one to prefer, dubbed or subbed version?
Subbed version is in native Japanese language with subtitles where the dubbed can be of many languages like English, French or Hindi etc. If you're saying which one is better then subbed version is obvious in my opinion. But since you are a beginner I would recommend you to watch the dubbed version . And after you are comfortable with the medium, then go with the subbed anime .
🌐You can make your own list
Look there are lots of people like me who are watching anime from long time and they can prefer you shows to start with . In the end of the day it is upto you which series you are gonna watch , which was like love at first site for you . So you can make a list of your own preferences also.
If you have watched some anime, you can also join online communities or friends group discussion where you are going to explore more interesting shows . Or you can find some anime by watching anime reviews or analysis by the critics on different social media platforms . You will be getting fond of anime over the time and your curiosity of finding the show that will satisfy your dopamine will be leading you to explore different genres , art styles , series with different plot and stories and anime movies also. You can even enjoy some interesting manga too. But one thing for sure , anime community is always there to welcome you my fellow otakus..
